Semiconductor manufacturers now look for multisensor measuring machines that combine optical, laser and tactile sensors in a single system, than using multiple specialized measuring systems. This allow them to measure parts more completely, with higher certainty and in less time. Also added versatility means lower capital expense and operating costs.
ShapeGrabber is a leading provider of 3D laser scanners that are particularly valuable for measuring and inspecting complex-shaped parts. The scanners are used for QC in automotive, aerospace, medical and other industrial markets to help manufacturers.
One major trend is the wider adoption of 3D scanning technology for inspection and quality control as opposed to the usual markets of reverse engineering and modelling. The traditional scanner from a few years ago was difficult to use. It was designed by an engineer to do an engineer's job.
One of the world's first video coordinate measuring machine (CMM) was introduced by VIEW Engineering way back in 1976. In 2005, VIEW Engineering acquired Micro-Metric to form VIEW Micro-Metrology, a division within Quality Vision International Inc.(QVI).
Dr Guglielmo Raho, an Italian gauge industry veteran with an impressive list of patents to his name spoke about how Itaca changed the CMM industry. Now President of the Itaca division at QVI, Guglielmo gives his insights into the metrology needs of manufacturers.
OGP's SmartScope technology has evolved to incorporate a sophisticated array of sensors. Kenneth Sheehan, Product Manager, New Development, OGP was in Singapore recently and tells us more about its newest ZONE3 software, set to boost the performance of SmartScope multisensor systems.
At one time, the internet appeared to offer all organisations a simple proposition: email connectivity and a clickable presence in the form of a website. Today, web presence has rapidly evolved with interactive content and the ability to deliver transactional experiences – or e-commerce. Migrating services online helps business reduce costs...
